Lauren Cogan
Licensed Clinical Therapist

Lauren Cogan, MSW, LCSW, CTTF-CBT

LICENSED CLINICAL THERAPIST, LEAD WHOLENESS METHOD PRACTITIONER, HOLISTIC NUTRITIONIST

Lauren is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, holistic nutritionist, and trauma-focused therapist with more than two decades of experience supporting adolescents, adults, couples, and families through complex emotional and behavioral challenges. Her work is rooted in compassionate, individualized care that recognizes the deep connection between mental health, nervous system regulation, trauma history, family dynamics, nutrition, and whole-body well-being.

Lauren is committed to root-cause healing and helps clients pursue lasting change through personalized nutrition, stress management, nervous system regulation, and trauma-informed care. Her work at Empower Functional Health brings together evidence-based therapy, holistic nutrition, and a whole-person understanding of how stress physiology and emotional patterns influence long-term healing.

Clinical Experience

Lauren specializes in trauma-informed therapy, anxiety, depression, and family conflict. She has extensive experience helping clients navigate both acute emotional crises and long-standing patterns rooted in stress, trauma, family dynamics, and nervous system dysregulation. She is nationally certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy through the Allegheny Health Network and the Rowan University CARES Institute.

Throughout her career, Lauren has worked across outpatient therapy, family-based mental health services, wraparound care, crisis intervention, adoption services, and clinical leadership roles. She has provided individual, family, couples, and group counseling in both community and outpatient settings, while also supervising clinicians, coordinating behavioral health programs, and supporting families with complex mental health and developmental needs.

Lauren’s approach combines evidence-based therapy with practical, client-centered support that meets individuals where they are emotionally and psychologically. She helps clients build resilience, improve emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and develop sustainable coping strategies that support long-term healing and growth.

At Empower Functional Health, Lauren’s clinical work is supported by extensive training in nutrition, holistic health, and root-cause wellness principles. Through EFH’s clinical model, she views mental and emotional health within the larger context of whole-body function while remaining grounded in her role as a licensed mental health professional.

In addition to her clinical work, Lauren has contributed mental health publications to the Bucks County Women’s Journal, writing on topics including stress management, emotional wellness, parenting, and coping with uncertainty during times of transition.
